Another free school has been proposed for an unknown location in the borough.
The guessing game has begun again for young parents, as another free school is proposed for a so-far-unknown location in the borough. Last night education company GEMS held a drop-in session to tell parents about its plans for a new free primary school “in the Surbiton/Tolworth border”. Learning director Terri de Quincey said GEMS had been in discussion with Kingston Council over the move for some months.
GEMS and the council must convince the Department for Education of the need for more primary places, in order to secure funding for the proposed school. It would open in 2015, for two reception classes of 30 pupils. The company owns and runs 46 schools around the world, including in the United Arab Emirates.
