A Christian street pastor has admitted secretly recording a female victim for sexual satisfaction.
Paul Jacobs, 56, pleaded guilty to voyeurism at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court last Thursday. Jacobs, of Grand Avenue, Berrylands, made the recording of a female performing a private act last September, and faces up to two years in prison.
Street Pastors, a voluntary organisation Jacobs has been involved in for several years since its launch in 2005, looks after night-time revellers in rowdy town centres by handing out bottled water and flip-flops between 10pm and 4am. Its volunteers also help young people make their way home by guiding them to licensed cabs. It is understood Jacobs stopped working with the group in April this year. Jacobs also stood in the 2010 local council elections as a Christian Peoples Alliance candidate. He will be sentenced at Kingston Crown Court at a later date.
Street Pastors declined to comment ahead of the sentencing, but confirmed Jacobs had stopped working with them in April. In his street pastor role Jacobs worked closely with Kingston police. The force also declined to comment ahead of his sentencing.
