Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity announced as Sainsbury’s new Local Charity Partner.

•Customers were able to vote for their favourite charity to be considered
•Fifth year of Local Charity partner initiative
•Colleagues now planning fundraising activities over the next few months

Sainsbury’s Surbiton has today announced that Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity will receive a year’s worth of fundraising and awareness support. The Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity who supports families when their child has a life threatening or terminal illness will be the new Local Charity partner for the retailer’s, Sainsbury’s Surbiton.
The scheme, which began in 2009, has raised more than £5 million to support local communities in the last four years. The Sainsbury’s Surbiton, situated in Victoria Road, has had great success in supporting previous local charities and last year raised £1837.39p for Princess Alice Hospice, Esher. The will be using the money to towards Community care ,In-patient care ,Day-patient care ,Therapeutic care ,Social work and Bereavement care.

Customers had a huge say in this year’s announcement and voted in-store and online between 1st to 15th May.

Sainsbury’s Surbiton Store Manager said: “We’ve had a great response from our customers and we’re delighted to have chosen a charity which many of our customers and colleagues can associate with. We will now be working closely with the charity to ensure they really benefit from the Local Charity partnership”.
