Wind in the Willows

Jan '70
Thu 1st

CornerHouse
Douglas Road
Surbiton

Kingston Youth Theatre’s next performance at the cornerHOUSE will be the timeless children’s classic "Wind in the Willows". The story remains one of the greats of children’s literature, and was voted one of the UK’s top 21 books in the BBC’s Big Read in 2003.

The irresistible riverbank adventures of the irrepressible Mr Toad and his friends clever Ratty, kindly Mole and wise old Badger are as English as cream teas and village cricket. Does Toad triumph over all his adversities? Will Badger take him in hand? Can Rat and Mole learn to enjoy travelling, or should they just stay ‘messing about in boats’?

The Upstage Theatre Company presents 'Comfort & Joy' by Mike Harding

"It's Christmas, relatives you hardly ever see, and who are now very different from you, arrive at the house for the festivities.
No-one receives a present that is at all appropriate, culinary disasters abound, long buried resentments rear their ugly head as the alcohol flows, tongues are loosened, and the plumbing goes wrong."

Does any of this remind you of your typical family Christmas?'

The Upstage Theatre Company follow up the huge success of A Tale of Two Cities with this comedy by Mike Harding and directed by Chris Smith.

Arts in the suburbs - amateurish and bland?

The UK's first Centre for Suburban Studies says suburbs have to overcome that perception.

Urban or Suburbia? Alive and invigorating or bland and depressing?

With stimulation from ventures such as Sir Peter Hall's new Rose Theatre about to open down the road, the Centre for Suburban Studies says we may no longer need to travel up to Waterloo for culture and creativity.
