Whether you are a budding professional photographer or a mobile phone snapper with a good eye for a picture, you are invited to take part in YMCA LSW’s annual youth photography competition this spring.
This year’s theme is My Community – Beyond the Surface and the competition is running from 10th February until 4th May 2014.
The photographs entered will be judged on creativity as much as technical merit and the photos can be submitted in two categories; photos taken with a mobile phone camera and photos taken with a regular camera. It’s completely free to enter and the competition is open to anyone under the age of 18 who lives, studies or works in the Boroughs of Kingston, Merton or Richmond.
The photographs will be judged by professional photographers as well as staff from YMCA London South West. Nando’s and Tiger in Kingston have kindly donated some of the prizes available to the winners, along with an annual gym membership at the YMCA LSW and an exhibition of the young people’s work.
The winners will be announced at ROOM Exposed, YMCA LSW’s open event night at the John Innes Youth Centre in Wimbledon, which will take place on the 9th May and where the photos submitted to the competition will be exhibited.
Throughout February, March and April, YMCA LSW will be posting fortnightly updates on our website and Facebook page, showcasing the submitted entries.
Please download and read the entry pack carefully before submitting your photos as photos sent in without the supporting consent forms will not be accepted. You can upload your entries and consent form here: http://www.ymcalsw.org/Sites/room/pages/photocompetition
