Residents and businesses can have their say about a planning application that has been submitted to Kingston Council for the development of the Surbiton Filter Beds site on Portsmouth Road.
The application is to provide 64 residential homes on a floating pontoon, a 92 berth marina and lock gate, restaurant, landscaping and car parking, and a publicly accessible nature reserve, riverside walk, heritage and education centre, flood storage and a river taxi stop. The application is accompanied by an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Environmental Statement.
The submission of the application follows pre-application public consultation by the developer/applicant Cascina Ltd. and Hydro Properties Ltd. in 2010.
Following the receipt of some outstanding plans, the planning application will be registered, press notices published and statutory and public consultation letters sent out (to just over 2,500 residents and businesses closest to the site).
A four week public consultation period is due to run from Monday 17 October – Monday 14 November 2011 and will provide the opportunity for the local community to comment on the development proposals.
The planning application, supporting plans and documents and the Environmental Statement will be available to view at Surbiton Library, at the Council’s Information and Advice Centre in Guildhall 2, High Street , Kingston (between 8.30am and 5pm)..
It is anticipated that the planning application will be considered by the Surbiton Neighbourhood Committee (for comment) and then by the Council’s Development Control Committee in January 2012, prior to referral to the Mayor of London who will have the final say.
