A sinister but humorous adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s book The Canterville Ghost is coming to the cornerHOUSE in September.
The play, written by Tim Kelly, is being staged by Upstage Theatre Company who have brought many productions to the arts centre in Douglas Road its most recent being the entertaining Jack the Ripper - Monster of Whitechapel by playwright Joe Dickinson.
Somewhere in rural England, Lady Canterville is selling her ancestral home to an American family. On their arrival, however, they soon discover a problem with their new property – it's haunted!
A battle between the Otis family and the 400-year-old ghost of Sir Simon de Canterville follows, with many bizarre characters (alive and dead) adding to the fun and leading, after several mishaps, to a happy ending.
"This comedy/horror is suitable for all ages. It's good family fun," said director Chris Smith.
