Secrets, ambitions, menace, a fun run and gobbledy[filtered word] are just some of the themes which drive this year's oneACTS festival at the cornerHOUSE. The feast of new playwriting comes to the arts centre in Douglas Road, Surbiton, in April.
This year, the event features nine new pieces of writing which have never been staged before. They are between 15 to 30 minutes long. Four will be performed on one night and five on another, on alternate evenings throughout the April 29 to May 4 run.
"The plays selected to be part of this year's oneACTS are a real mix of comedy and drama,” said oneACTS chairman Jon Constant. “There’s something for everyone to enjoy and some great roles for the many actors who auditioned for this year's crop of original shows.
"The festival is a great way for talented local playwrights to see their hard work brought to life for the first time on stage.
“The anticipation is building already. It should be a great week.”
The festival is in its ninth year and has become a well established and highly respected part of the local arts scene.
The plays in this year’s festival include:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: He Loves Me by Tim Harrison; Ode To A Belling Cooker by Ian Hey; Turn Left Here by Alanna Rodrigues; Couple by Colin Pink, and Full Fat by Sharon Wright.
Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday: I Touch The Sky Beneath My Feet by Eddie Coleman; I'm Backing Britain by Sean Lang; Who's Who? by Patrick Adams, and Going For Gold by Andy Moseley.
Tickets cost £8 (£6 concessions). Visit www.ticketsource.co.uk/event/29384 to book.
