A local amateur art group who, for reasons lost in the mists of time, call themselves the Artful Dodgers have their first full exhibition at The CornerHouse, Surbiton this December.

The group came about when its founder members met several years ago at an inspirational art class held on alternate Saturdays at the Malden Centre. During the summer term the tutor encouraged the class out of the studio and into the great outdoors. It was so successful that members of the group started going out together on other Saturdays and during the summer break.

Now the group has an all-year programme of Saturday morning locations en plein air (weather permitting, otherwise in a pub with a view!) and an expanding membership of about 20.

The exhibition runs from 1 December until 4 January whenever the centre is open, (see website for details www.thecornerhouse.org)

The Gala opening is on Tuesday 2 December from 7-9pm at Cornerhouse 116 Douglas Rd KT6 7SB. Around 60 paintings in various media will be on show and on sale for that innovative Christmas present
