If you haven't heard about the Seething Sardine Festival or associated events, where have you been? Seriously?
Thousands of people from across London trek to suburban Surbiton to take part in the crazy community events which have included giant games of mousetrap and pop-up pirates, and steam punks and children in cycle races on Penny Farthings. It's kind of unusual but it works - devotees get their community fix, and the creativity and imagination of the arts crowd gets an outlay.
Parents say they have been left in the lurch after a Surbiton nursery was ordered to pack up and move out.
‘Tinies’ a popular nursery employing 8 staff and looking after 21 children, based in the grounds of Hillcroft College has been forced to close due to an eviction notice served by Hillcroft College.
Previous efforts have turned up a mattress, old Christmas trees and a road barrier, but community activists are now planning a root-and-branch clean up of Surbiton's Claremont Gardens.
