rubi cafe

Former cocktail bar Rubicon Bar on Maple Road has recently changed hands and is now owned by the same owners of esteemed cocktail bar Purl in Marylebone. Still open in the evenings as a cocktail bar but now also open as rubi cafe during the day.

I popped in the other day for a quick coffee and I have to tell you it is the best coffee I have had for a long time!

The food looked great too! lots of freshly baked cakes and muffins and brownies and some lovely looking savouries.

Surbiton needle exchange move 'snuck in under the radar'

Public health bosses have only themselves to blame for determined opposition to a planned move of drug rehab services in Surbiton, residents and business owners have said.

Treatment for addiction could be moved from Surbiton Health Centre to Hollyfield House in Hollyfield Road, alongside services for people with mental health issues. More than 500 people have signed a petition opposing the plans. Mary Marshall, who runs nearby Avondale gym, said Kingston Council had put up a “smokescreen” and failed to consult properly.

Burst pipe leaves 2,000 residents without water

Thames Water is still working to fix a huge water main that burst on Saturday, leaving thousands without water.

The 30in pipe burst at the Hogsmill sewage works at 7.30am, and left about 2,000 people with either low water pressure or no water at all. A Thames Water spokeswoman said this morning: "The pipe is still being fixed as it's a large pipe and we have to work slowly and carefully to avoid it bursting again.
