Saint Andrew's Road
A couple changed their wedding plans and held a ceremony in Kingston Hospital – because the father of the bride was in intensive care.
Naomi Hurrell and Charlie Bamford’s full legal ceremony was held later in St Andrew’s Church, Surbiton, with proud dad Roger Hurrell watching remotely on an iPad. The pair, childhood sweethearts and both charity workers, were “thrilled” when their vicar and staff at the hospital agreed to let them exchange vows in the intensive treatment unit along with immediate family.
The hospital kitchen even laid on cake and cava, and a nurse found Mr Hurrell a smart shirt and a flower for his buttonhole. The newlyweds, who met more than a decade ago at Chessington Evangelical Church, jetted off to Lake Como in Italy for their honeymoon. She moved in with her husband in Surbiton on Wednesday, she added – the day after returning to the country.
