A Surbiton Festival organiser and behind-the-scenes stalwart has been praised for saving the day for performers at this year’s event.
Roger Jones, 75, of Alexandra Drive, has organised the RNLI rally that kicked off the festival for the past seven years, this year raising about £1,000 for the lifeboat group. And he helped throughout the day on Saturday, finding chairs, tables, and electricity generators – and even directing traffic.
Mr Jones has been part of the scouting movement since 1947, and currently serves as president of the 1st Surbiton Sea Lions group. He is also a warden at St Mark’s Church.
