A man has been jailed for six years for dealing heroin in a Surbiton street.
Demis Ubiribo, 37, of Brighton Road, Surbiton, was arrested after out-of-uniform Kingston Police officers spotted him handing the Class A drug to another person in Glenbuck Road on Thursday, May 7, last year. Ubiribo ran away when approached by police officers, who found 42 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin near to where he was spotted. Officers apprehended Ubiribo after a short chase. He was sentenced to six years in prison at Kingston Crown Court yesterday having been found guilty of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
The arrest was made as part of Operation Odin, a six month operation launched by Kingston police last year in response to “community concerns” about drug dealing in the borough. Anyone who has any information on drug offences in the borough should contact Crime Stoppers on 0800 555111.
