A Surbiton man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a pedestrian was killed in a crash.
A woman, 39, died after being hit by a black Primastar Nissan van in Old Malden Lane, Worcester Park, at 11.13am on Saturday. The Worcester Park blog website reported that the woman was jogging down the lane. The woman reported to be from the Worcester Park area was flown by air ambulance to St George’s Hospital in Tooting but died on Sunday.
A 34-year-old man from the Surbiton area was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and also dangerous driving. He has been released on bail until January 8 as the investigation continues.
Epsom and Ewell Neighbourhood Inspector Michael Hodder said on Facebook that traffic police officers and collision investigators shut the road to give the woman some privacy and to make sure emergency crews could work safely and quickly.
