A Surbiton shopkeeper has been fined for selling alcohol to a 16-year-old boy.
Kuddithampy Kuganesan, owner of Union Convenient in Villiers Avenue, admitted selling a bottle of vodka alcopop to the teenager after being caught in a Kingston Council sting. Trading Standards officers sent the teenager in as a test purchasing exercise in September and caught an employee of Mr Kuganesan’s selling the alcohol without asking for ID. The owner was fined £150 and ordered to pay £150 costs plus a £20 victim surcharge at Richmond Magsitrates’ Court this week.
Mr Kuganesan also pledged to give the employee further training in the Challenge 25 policy.
