Records broken as Kingston students pick up GCSE results

Ecstatic teenagers could be found in Kingston today as they picked up their GCSE results.

As they opened their envelopes it was cheers all round as it proved to be yet another record breaking year for the borough.

At Hollyfield School, in Surbiton Hill Road, Surbiton, 72 per cent of students achieved five or more A*-C passes - a rise of 16 per cent on last year .

Similarly Tolworth Girls' School, in Fullers Way North, saw a rise of nine per cent on last year's results with 71 per cent of students getting A*-C.

Students at both Coombe Boys' and Coombe Girls' were delighted as they helped both schools secure their best ever results with teenagers at the Blakes Lane boys' school achieving 53 per cent A*-C grades and girls at the Clarence Avenue school receiving 70 per cent.

As with previous years both Tiffin Girls' and Boys achieved excellent results with students at the Richmond Road girls' school achieving 100 per cent A*-C grades and boys at the Queen Elizabeth Road school receiving 99.3 per cent.

Kingston Grammar School also had an outstanding year as all students achieved at least five A*-C grades.
