Network Rail report comes to conclusion over last November's red light over-shoot.
Skidding on a build up of ice and autumn leaves seems to be the most likely explanation for the commuter train near miss. According to the Rail Accident Investigation Branch who have conducted extensive testing in simulated conditions in Germany, driver error and mechanical failure have been ruled out.
The November 25th early morning incident involving an Alton to Waterloo service over-shot two red lights and skidded to a halt just 300 yards from another stationary train.
