A project to transform and develop local pride in Tolworth has been given nearly £400,000 by Sadiq Khan.
Working alongside Kingston Council, The Community Brain will deliver Shedx – a year-long programme to encourage residents to become involved in generating ideas for regeneration.
The project will include a Brazilian Festival celebrating the history of Corinthian Casuals, pop-up night markets, bringing a vacant shop in Tolworth Broadway back to use and mobile sheds aimed at encouraging residents to reimagine the area around them.
The council hopes the project will help deliver some of the aims of the Tolworth Area Plan, which was publicly consulted on late last year, and working with The Community Brain is hoped to form a blueprint for better work between the council and community groups.
The total allocated is £385,239, as part of £24million being given out by the Good Growth Fund.
