Helicopter tracks sat nav nabbers

A spate of car break-ins in Berrylands prompts a call to the copper chopper.

A police helicopter was scrambled during the early hours of Tuesday after a suspicious car was seen patrolling Berrylands. Police have been on the look out for a gang of thieves targeting cars in the Surbiton Hill and Berrylands area after a spate of break-ins.

Twelve cars have been broken into as the thieves appear to be targeting satellite navigation systems. Police say to be cautious of anyone selling such equipment second-hand, and to be extra careful if you own such items.

Police can be contacted on 0800 555 111 if you have any information.
