The owner of this establishment chose to display a UKIP poster in the window around the time of the last general election. That's right, a poster for an anti-immigration party in the window of an Italian restaurant. Genius.
I love this little restaurant. The staff have only ever been polite and the owner always comes across and says hello. The food is great - the duck with cherries is a favourite, and the zuccini is wonderful. If I ever want to go for Italian food in Surbiton I always choose this place and don't understand the previous comments left at all.

The staff here are some of the rudest I have come across, I'm
not one to usually complain but this restaurant seems to get worse every visit.
Customer service doesn't exsist, don't bother eating here as there are
so many better Italians in Surbiton. Today we asked for a table, the
waitress pointed to a vacant one and then slammed the door on my
hand! When I pointed this out to her (politely) she said "I know, I
don't have time, do you want to eat here or not". We decided we
didn't. On previous visits I have heard the owner saying the rudest things about customers who
had just left, really makes you wonder what he'll say about you!
Avoid!!!
Try Allegro next to Martins on the High Street. It may look a little shabby from the outside (tho' they have plans to do it up in the New Year) but the food is always fantastic with a good selection of daily specials, and the service couldn't be more courteous and attentive. And before you ask, no, I am not the owner.
I was very dissappointed with this restaurant. The food was luke warm, the service terrible, and the prices very high. I was also charged for a starter which we did not order. My advice - Avoid at all costs
I really wanted to like this place as I love Italian food and prefer to support good quality local restaurants over the ever-encroaching mediocre chains. Unfortunately the experience my partner and I had was not very positive.
The food was good to average - certainly nothing special and the service was below average, certainly not service with a smile. The real problem came when we got our bill as we had been charged for a bottle of wine we had not ordered. Staff claimed that we had been given the bill for a different table but clearly this was not the case as it was a bill for the meal we had had plus this additional charge. The staff took ages to redo the bill leaving us waiting around.
When the revised bill arrived we checked it carefully for obvious reasons and found that this time we were being charged for a glass of wine we hadn't had. Quite a small mistake but ,given the previously wrong bill and the time taken to sort it out, very annoying. Again this took far too long to sort out leaving my partner and I just waiting to pay for a very average meal and go home.
I don't think we will be going back!
