I lived locally to this pub, opposite on Ellerton road, and for 5years I wouldn't dream of drinking here.
It's now had a total makeover and the new owners are great...a total hit.
Exactly what this area needed!!! Decorated to high finish, great staff, likeminded locals and a developing beer garden for families and sunny days.
Well done for making this pub my new fav and saving me and all my friend a trip into Surbiton for a decent atmos.
I used this pub about 15 years ago or so when Leila Williams (ex Blue Peter presenter) and her husband Fred (Cruise ship singer) ran it. Initially it was because they served Red Rock cider on tap ( thank god they stopped making that stuff , it did my head in)
The pub was a real treat then, non-iffy and friendly locals, pool table, very nice. Stopped using it when we moved to a ‘river road’, now using ‘The Vic’, haven’t been back since. I’ll take a trip down memory lane real soon, pop in for a pint and let you know what I now think of it!
The whole pub is being let down by peoples hearsay who haven't been to the pub in years when it was not a nice place. Try it yourself you'll be surprised
the landlady has got rid of the drug problem. It has been refurbished amazingly and feels like a really homely pub, despite what evryone else has to say about it! I really enjoy going there and will do for many years

Why do you give it 5 stars if you haven't been there for 15 years? It might have changed since then.
Fair enough. WEB Master, is it possible to remove the stars until I’ve revisited?

Currently closed down for refurbishment. Could be a nice local if you landlady would only get rid of the drug problem. Shame.
