This is the best restaraunt in Surbiton ( along with Magic Wok) I have eaten in Sarab at least ten times and each time the food was exceptional , and contarary to the above posts - the staff are always very friendly and attentive . I had my 40th birthday here and everyone was amazed by the quality ( and quantity) of food - my two young nephews joined in making bread with the owner and watching it bake in the traditional oven . I don't think the rude posts above can be genuine at all - I wouldn't be suprised if they were posted by the competition - the other diners are always just civilised normal people - If the hen party was rushed they were probably , well , acting like a hen party - no one wants that in a small , quiet restaurant. Ten out of ten.
We recently booked this restaurant out for a hen do and can safely say of the 19 of us that attended the event, none of us will ever be going back. We were rushed through our dinner despite having booked it for 3 hours - The owners became very rude towards us, and shortly after ordering our food they began trying to clear it up whilst we were still eating. They then proceeded to give away some of our tables WHILST we were still sat at them eating. We lost 2 tables to other people when we should have had another 45 minutes at the restaurant. After we were pretty much kicked out of the restaurant they then tried to charge us a whacked up 20% service charge...Sure we would have paid if the service had been great but it wasn't. We were made to feel incredibly unwelcome.
Sure, go for a meal there...But don't hold an event there.
Food was okay, but the best thing is that you can bring your own alcohol.
Happens all too often with hen party groups. Some restaurant owners should be more appreciative that the people attending have chosen to come to them for such an important occasion.
great food, i think its the best place to eat. you never know maybe there restaurant mite even become 5 start one day. i think the decorations is great and even if its small inside it's still a perfect place to be. we've been there like 20 timnes and every time we had good honest food. the BEST place ever. if u think it's bad well then u just don't like the food. YUM. love sarab. x
Really Good!
Went for my boyfriends birthday and had an excellent time! Yes the place is small but it just adds to the atmosphere!
Food is great - tender and well cooked meat - our veggie friends were more than happy with their options too!
Staff are really friendly and best of all...GREAT value for money!!! I seriously reccomend the BBQ'd Aubergine Dip for starter! Yum! :-)
Just had a very disappointing experience at Sarab. The restaurant always looks busy so we thought we'd give it a try but.........
1) It's very cramped
2) The food was awful
3) The staff were grumpy
4) Our food order was wrong
5) The main course arrived before we finished our starter despite asking the waitress to hold on to it for a few minutes
6) The bill was wrong (over charged)
7) And....worst of all.....the place is full of REALLY drunk estate rats!
We'd thoroughly recommend Sarab for anyone who isn't hungry and fancies pretending to be an extra on Eastenders!
