We regularly order Thai food from 'Sesame' for Home delivery. The food is tasty, extremely good value and the service efficient. Last night we tried the Indian menu and that was even better. The Lamb Handi Laziz was rich and flavoursome, the Chicken Pasanda excellent, without the cloying sweetness that you get with some versions and the Palak Paneer the best we have ever had. We are widely travelled and have eaten in some wonderful Indian restaurants the world over. To have this little gem so near to us, with excellent food offered at such a reasonable price makes me very happy indeed!
Really, REALLY good food! Complex flavours, always brimming with fresh herbs & real variety between dishes. Great service & a lovely, friendly atmosphere - by far my favourite Indian restaurant!
It's a shame to read the review before as this is our favourite Indian takeaway since moving to Kingston. We came here last April, have tried various local takeaways but we have always come back to this one. The service is good both on the phone and the delivery is efficient. I can't recommend highly enough the Chicken Lababdar and the Lamb X-Cuty off the house specials, so much flavour and makes our mouths water just at the thought of it! We have tried others on the menu that have also been really tasty, The Goan Fish Curry is particularly good and very different to the Goan Curries we have had from other restaurants. We haven't tasted their thai food so I couldn't comment on that but we wouldn't consider ordering from anywhere else, it's our Friday treat!
The takeaway Thai food from Sesame was terrible.
The experience:
Ordered Prawn Crackers ~ was given poppodoms and prawn crackers? (could be seen as plus). But was actually a sign of things to come.
The butterfly prawns were cremated.
The prawn toast was a hideous fat spongey thing that tasted a bit fish cakey. But far from being that nice.
The beef with sweet basil was a glutineous mess. The beef was tough, the basil look like stewed spinach, there were no peppers and had so much chilli infused into it, we couldnt eat it (an I love my chilli). We felt like the chef simply didnt specialize in Thai food, the Indian food may well be amazing.
The sweet and sour seafood, was the only dish that I would say was roughly what I expected, but far from what I hope it would be.
Why, am I writing this review? Well, having not had many takeaway Thai's in the kingston area, I ventured online to see what options were available, the only reviewed restaurant was this one that really stood out. BIG mistake. To that end, I would hate anyone else to fall into the same trap.
A big thumbs down.
The best Indian and Thai restaurant in this area. Everything perfect.
