Paintings, prints, photography and drawings by Su Collins, Lynne Humberstone, Andrea Robinson and Sara Schutz
Come and see the fruits of three artists and a photgrapher's endeavours at the gala night of The October Project.
The event at the cornerHOUSE in Douglas Road, Surbiton, on Tuesday, October 9, will showcase paintings, prints, photography and drawings which cover portraits, figurative work, landscapes, collaged images, silkscreen printmaking and prints.
Su Collins, Lynne Humberstone and Andrea Robinson first met in October 2002 when they attended life classes at Wimbledon School of Art.
Su lives in Surbiton and has been involved with the cornerHOUSE for more than ten years. She studied History of Art at Essex University, and says she draws ‘for fun’, using pencil and pastel to interpret the human form.
Lynne studied at Medway College of Design and Camberwell School of Art and has recently been accepted as a member of the Hesketh Hubbard Art Society at the Mall Galleries, London.
Like Su, Lynne works with live models, creating portraits in pencil, pastel and oils.
Andrea is an artist, writer and printmaker. She originally trained in fashion design at Epsom School of Art and Design, and now works across a range of media to tell personal stories; her prints often incorporate text and found objects, or take family photographs as a starting point.
She has exhibited with The Friday Group at Putney Arts Theatre, with Clinic at the Amersham Arms, Murmurs at the Rag Factory, and was selected as one of Ladyfest’s emerging artists in 2010.
To complement the work, they have invited photographer Sara Schutz to join the October Project; Andrea and Sara grew up near Surbiton and have known each other for many years. Sara has been taking photographs since she was a child. Using traditional and digital photography processes, she aims to capture and communicate the wonder and beauty she sees in the world around her, on her travels and closer to home. She is a member of the Petersfield Photographic Society. Sara's black and white and colour landscapes and portraits complete this group show.
All the works in the exhibition are for sale.
The gala night on Tuesday, October 9 runs from 7-9pm. All are welcome. Come and meet the artists and talk to them about their work.
Admission is free.
