El Comodin/The Joker is a crazy odyssey through love, politics, football and fizzy drinks.
It is the latest production by Du Buffet, which brought The King and Me and Not in Line to the cornerHOUSE to great acclaim in 2010.
Danny, England’s reserve goalkeeper, gets his chance to show what he can do on a tour to the South American country of Sylvania. After a world-beating performance, his instant fame gets the attention of a Mafia-style Sylvanian politician who has big plans for him. Danny’s love life faces similar upheaval as he finds his affections split between Ana, the politician’s wayward daughter and Samantha, a cynical, American journalist.
A fast-moving, absorbing new comedy, El Comodin/The Joker shows just how quickly you can get out of your depth - and why fizzy cola and sport don't mix! The show which runs at the cornerHOUSE in Douglas Road, Surbiton, from December 5-8 at 7.45pm is written by Surbiton's David Gray and directed by East Molesey's Robin Johannsen. It contains strong language and is not suitable for younger children (14 or over is advised).
