Are you a phenomenon with puff pastry? Is your treacle tart the talk of Tolworth?

To celebrate the 2nd Surbiton Food Festival we are launching Pies in their Eyes: The Great Surbiton Pie Challenge.

Open to keen cooks, both amateur and professional, your mission is to bake a pie, flan or tart with either a sweet or savoury filling.

You could go for a timeless classic, like lemon meringue or steak and kidney, or create something a little more avant-garde. Rabbit and chocolate anyone? Or pork and peanut butter?

As for pastry you can use puff, shortcrust, filo, flaky or choux. And your creation can be open, latticed or completely enclosed.

Once you have produced your culinary masterpiece bring it along to The Antelope pub on Maple Road on Saturday 17 May before 10.30 am

There are four medals to be won in two categories:

Amateur cook — sweet and savoury
Professional chef — sweet and savoury

Winners will be announced at midday and gongs handed out shortly afterwards.

If you have any queries just email info@surbitonfarmersmarket.co.uk.
Meanwhile, happy baking, and good luck!
