It is July 2015. England has been at war for almost a year and patriotism is at it's height. Men are off fighting for King and Country leaving women and children to keep life going on the home front - even the recently established Girl Guides are doing their bit! Among the younger generation, those signing up to fight are getting younger and younger - and nobody seems to mind if they lie about their age! When Anna's fourteen year old boyfriend becomes a volunteer soldier, having given a false date of birth, Anna's enthusiasm for the war effort begins to fade. As the news of the increasing loss of life in the trenches starts to devastate the village, the feelings of the young people left behind begins to change. Conversations in a Time of War is an original play presented by two separate casts of young people from Kingston Junior Drama Company.
