Hi why does the market close so early i can never go to it as i work saturdays 8 - 2 any chance it could close later :)

Hello,

I would like to enquire about having a stall at the market. Could someone let me know how much it costs and if you have a licence to sell alcohol as we would be selling ale.
My email address is rachel@adventurebrewery.com

Many thanks

I would like to know how to go about getting a stall to sell cakes at the farmers market and how much it costs to have the stall ect any info would be greatfull just email tashasscrumptiouscakes@hotmail.co.uk thank you tasha

Can someone tell me the name of the company/ lady who makes those unbelievable brownies?!...I want to be able to buy them regularly rather than waiting for each Farmers Market!

I've been talking to the manager of The Waggon and Horses and they are possibly interested in having a stall in the market. Please can you supply contact details where this can be discussed?

Many thanks indeed.

great little market. some things a little pricey, but that is because it is quality, not rubbish being sold. A good social morning out.
I hear this Sat 21st April YordaAdventure are having an Easter egg hunt in the local school playground, St Andrews & St Marks across the road, which will be fun for the children - their bonus for being good while I shop for delicious goodies beforehand! Yorda are a charity that helps families with disabled members I think. Should be fun.

It is a bit pricey but I would not go to Brixton market for love nor money. Used to live in Streatham as a kid, sadly have bad memories of Brixton.
My lovely man is going to book a table a a resturant on the next market day, we are going to say hello to lots of friend and then buy a one off cake or chutney. If I need to save money I would go to Kingston Market or at a push Tooting .

Well, I lived in Brixton for 11 years. *IN* Brixton (not on the edges of). The market was less trendy then, but is still the best mrkt in town. Fresh prawns £7.99 a kg, 8 fishmongers, 13 butchers, and streets of fruit/veg stalls, real sugar cane, durian fruits etc... - all at reasonable prices. When you have finished shopping the best pizza outside of Napoli can be eaten in a tiny restaurant in 1 of the arcades. Just wander around and look for the queues.

I have very fond memories of those 11 years in Brixton and never had any negative vibes/situations. I say if you venture into a community with prejudice, foreboding and fear, you will get that back direct.

Kingston mrkt isn't that cheap either, bit Tooting is a good bet. By far the best value is Croydon mrkt (2 fishmongers), but a bit far to go and only on Saturdays. I hear that Wembley mrkt is excellent, but never been to that one.

Of course the best markets in the world (IMHO) are San Antonio mkt in Barcelona, closely followed by mercado central Alicante and Palermo's tumble-down street market which must cover an area of about 2 football pitches. The market in Aswan is a joy to wander through as is Izmir's.

Next Market Saturday 19th June from 9.am -1pm.
excellent range of fresh farm produce with new stalls expected

Well done Geoffrey Doyle for putting on a great community event after the Farmers Market

We all had fun at your Dog Show.

More please

Another mini Borough Market, I'm afraid
Overpriced designer nosh.
Designer lettuce/olives etc...
Designer egos.
And it's shut by about 14:30 as I'm sure they've all made their killing by that time.

My choice for saturdays is to fork out the £5.50 travelcard with railcard to Brixton mrkt. Do all my weeks food shopping at right prices in a great atmosphere

I wonder if this wannabe critic appreciates the considerable community & charitable contributions made by the Maple Road Farmers Market..?! Obviously has no idea of the difference in whom the Market appeals to when attempting to compare to Brixton Market.

Maple road farmers market is a wonderful
event and is welcomed by all.

"All?" - Errrmm, but not me

next one is Sat 17th July.

I think there is one scheduled in February

Anybody know if this is going to be starting up again in 2010. The quality of the produce there really was very good.

I don't know if it is going to come back but, if anyone out there is involved in the decision making process, please keep this excellent little event going. It is obviously very popular with the local community, it causes no inconvenience to the local traffic and, from speaking to several of the traders, it is a profitable venture for them. Please let this become more than an advertising effort for the plight of the organisers and turn into a monthly event!

Three dates have been set so far this year. More markets will be held February 20, March 20 and April 17.

Next one is 21st November 2009

Definitely a place to fnd gorgeous food! what an event, there was so many choices of great products that I wish the vent will take place every month from now on!

I agree there were some excellent stalls. From the flier the next Farmers Market is on Sat 21 Nov and then again Sat 19th Dec. Hopefully, everyone will turn out again so that the organisers can get permission from the council to hold a permanent Farmers Market.
