So, I've heard this a few times, in the Seething Wells/filter beds area I can hear what sounds just like a claxon/old air-raid siren. This happens at around 9am and certainly happened this morning (Tuesday 8th March). Any ideas what this might be? Is it something to do with lock-gates, flood defences, pumping stations or something different? Perhaps it's nothing to do with the river at all. Just one of those peculiar local 'mysteries'...
Do drop a line if you know.

Mystery solved ... and all it took was a bit of a leftfield Google search:

So, there you go. Case closed :)
Cheers, have heard this a few times and wondered ... nice to know a random fact for the day.
