Huge ugly concrete construction behind Saint Marks church

Somewhere else on this site there is a thread about the amount of development happening in Surbiton [ref: Filter bed flat development].

I have just taken a stroll down St. Marks Hill - Does anyone know what that huge ugly concrete construction behind Saint Marks church is about?

Surely not more 'flats' ?

Smabey old son, glad to hear that you are out perambulating in the ton of Surbo once again. The concrete frame to which you refer is the result of many, many days hard toil by skilled building folk to produce dwelling units of the multiple stacked persuasion.
It could be argued that such a monster would not be allowed for the benefit of mere earthly mortals but when there is clergy involved anything can happen. I like redevelopment and progress but this one has all the hallmarks of a shocker. What goes around comes around. It dwarfs the church that spawned it and the church will become ever faster insignificant. Three bed pent houses £750k. Check out RBK planning.
As I walked past the glass conservatory 'extension' to St Marks tonight it looked like there were women doing Zumba dance stuff out the back. Not that's what I call religion!
