I found it a very enjoyable evening, the magicians were all quite different, even in appearance, although plenty of card tricks. Not too happy about walking out of the auditorium halfway through the performance, after being settled in our seats, to see the close up acts in the foyer, even though some of them were really amazing. How DID he do that ? The stage acts I found reminded me of children's party entertainers, some good and a lot rather boring, but the finale from the guy with the balloons was very good. The best act on stage of course was the old guy who came out too early, he thought he heard his cue and in fact the audience were clapping because a little boy called Max had a birthday. He was quickly shushed off stage to come on again a moment later. The funny thing was he didn't turn his back on the audience, even when he went off stage, something he was probably taught as a young entertainer 'never turn your back on your audience'. He reminded me of a cross between Mrs Overall and Tommy Cooper, and even when he dropped things (he was more of a balancing act than a magician) the audience warmed to him, his jokes were so funny. All in all a good if unusual evening out ! Did any other Surbitonites go ?
