Olympic Cycle Course

Jolly exciting stuff, the Olympics course will largely follow routes that will be very familiar to cycle commuters and enthusiasts from the Surbiton and wider Kingston-upon-Thames/Elmbridge area.

Perhaps this might result in some resurfacing work and the general tidy up of street furniture and markings. Nothing but good (for the cycling community at least) can come of this. Richmond Park has suffered with a poor road surface for some time now (which I don't mind too much as perhaps this discourages the traffic...) this will certainly help in that regard.

I suspect that this thread will now descend into a narky discussion about cycling vs. motoring and so on, but let's try and stay on the positive side about a major Olympic event coming to our region.

Comments

As a former rider with Bournemouth Arrow I am excited by this coming to our area and will very much enjoy watching the Box Hill segment,I am not a cyclist now but abhor those who ride on pavements, zebra crossings, hang shopping bags from handle bars and have a dog on a leash.

Respect to the real cyclists, the hard men,you know who you are.
