Further to a previous forum post. My partner just opened the door (St Marys Road area, Long Ditton) to one of these so called artists who display their work on your doorstep. Don't be fooled, the stuff is painted somewhere like China and imported, that's how these guys make their profit. If you like it fine, but don't believe them when they say they painted the work themselves. They might knock on your door any time soon ! And while I'm at it, why do they come round at night when it's dark??

How is it possible that the highly intelligent and mostly "comfortable" of our district even open the door to hawkers, let alone at night.
What on earth would tempt someone to buy a painting off a stranger, is this compulsion to consume, that seems to drive our economy,
responsible and also the driving force behind buying duff shares from boiler rooms?
On a similar subject my girlfriend and I saw a market stall in Dresden selling drawings of different professions. Much like the ones that sell coat of arms they were drawings with writing about what the history of the job was etc. The market seller told us his friend drew them and he sold them for him.
Then we saw another stall in Dresden.
And then another in Leipzig.
Thankfully they were only 10 or 20 euros each, not the prices mentioned for art seen by the OP but still. No one likes to be decieved.
Maybe try buying them with monopoly money stating they came out of a genuine cashpoint ;)
