Warning about the Car Wash Card at Total in Surbiton

I've used my Car Wash Card at the Total petrol station on Brighton Road in Surbiton for several months. But today I put it in the machine and it said 'Error, remove card'. When I put the card back in, it said my balance was £0.00!! I think I had around £24.00 on there.

I went into the forecourt shop and they confirmed my smart card had an error but refused to refund me cos they don't know how much was on there (I told them there was at least £20). So I'm out twenty-odd quid and now, for fear of the same thing happening again, I won't be able to benefit from the reduced car wash prices that one gets with the Car Wash Card.

Just a heads-up to everyone.

Dear Dan Easton,

I too have a Total car wash card which has been fine up to last week when I found the card slot taped over.
On enquiry in the Garage [now another company] I was told that that part of Total had been bought up by
Shell... I too had about £24 left on the card...... so much for multibuy 'savings'!

I just do not get it,my cars are washed every year when I have them serviced as part of the overall deal.
