WARNING - SW Trains not running properly again tonight

Sadly, there has been yet another suicide on the railway this afternoon, this time at New Malden station. The station was totally closed for a while, but has now re-opened.

For reasons best known to themselves, SWT are using this incident as a reason to delay all services by up to 90 minutes right up until the last train tonight. Probably best to find another way home if possible.

For those that have the time, it is probably worth writing a quick complaint email to SW Trains to question why their service takes so long to recover from incidents like this.

It sounds as if the emergency services have done a sterling job and got New Malden station open within two hours of the incident itself happening. Surely SWT could have used that time to ensure that delays and cancellations were kept to a minimum and that a normal service could resume by, say, 5pm. Instead, all services will be disrupted right through to 1am tomorrow morning.

Comments

Today's excuse is a signal failure. Surbiton station was a total no-go this morning and the delays are now forecast up to 16.00. They originally planned to have it sorted out by 09.00!

This is the fourth set of 'severe' delays in the past 10 days, so hopefully this might force a deeper review.
