Just saw a sleeping body outside Surbiton Station in the pouring rain covered by a brown blanket. Trainers were put neatly outside the blanket and all around was sandwiches, cakes, drinks etc obviously left by other people for when he or she awakes. A bit like Christmas morning. Lovely sight. Not.

It is because the people of Surbiton are so kind hearted and generous that we attract so many beggars and rough sleepers if all help and foos was withdrawn they would soon move on.
All it takes is just one person to donate some money or food and you've created the problem. You're now helping perpetuate the cycle of dependency, degradation and despair.
It's nice people are trying to help, but you're right about it being a shame that there aren't more options for homeless people in this area - particularly in this weather.
