Every ward in the borough could be made safer for cyclists, and council election candidates should take notice, campaigners have said.
Space4Cycling is the Kingston Cycling Campaign’s appeal to politicians ahead of this month’s poll to pledge support for new bike lanes and protected space. Segregated cycle paths along the Portsmouth Road and Tudor Drive were suggestions from group members.
More 20mph speed limits are among the group’s suggestions. The borough is already set to benefit from millions of pounds of investment from Mayor of London Boris Johnson for a ‘mini-Holland’ project, including a cycle lane along the Thames at Kingston and a new layout at Surbiton station.
