A Surbiton man has been jailed for leaving sexually threatening voicemails for five women, including threats of rape and messages referencing murdered schoolgirl Milly Dowler.
Elliot Mutch, 40, left more than 100 sickening messages on work phones while he was masturbating and high on drugs, Kingston Crown Court heard this afternoon. He told one woman: “I’m going to make you pregnant and rape our daughter.” Prosecutor Stephen Apted recounted just some of the messages in horrifying detail.
One of the victims, he said, was so affected by the harassment her husband had to take her to and from work every day. Two victims received 70 messages between them, out of a total of 101. Mutch, of Dennan Road, Surbiton, left other voicemails throughout November last year, including the following:
“I want to rape a boy in front of you.”
“I’m going to rape you, you [...] whore. I’m serious. I’m going to rape your mum.”
In still further messages Mutch, a former chef at the Waggon and Horses pub in Surbiton Hill Road, made references to disappeared Madeleine McCann, as well as to “animals in a sexual manner” and “raping a 13-year-old Thai girl”.
The five women were aged between 24 and 39, police said.
Mutch was also jailed for one day, to run concurrently, for possession of a class C drug, the psychoactive trifluoromethylphenylpiperazine, found when police searched his home. When Mutch was first arrested, on November 28 last year, he admitted everything – and even told police there may have been further victims. The three victims police had found thereby became five, but officers believe there may be more still.
Defending, Patrick Maggs said Mutch, who arrived at court in a dark suit and with a bag packed, was “mortified” and “ashamed” of what he had done and felt genuine remorse. Mutch wanted to apologise to the women and could be rehabilitated through a suspended sentence, Mr Maggs said.
