Around 20 firefighters and four fire engines rushed to the blaze, in a semi-detached property in Hook Rise North, Tolworth.
A fire brigade spokesman said the roof of the house was badly damaged and a small part of the first floor was also affected by the fire but there were no injuries.
Police shut the northbound exit slip road from the A3 at Tolworth junction to allow the fire brigade to deal with the incident, which they were called to at 8.11am on Saturday, April 21.
Firefighters from Surbiton, New Malden and Kingston fire stations attended the blaze and a spokesman said it was under control by around 9.10am.
