A company that hopes to build up to 32 new homes on the site of an old petrol station does not believe including any affordable units is "viable".
IndigoScott has submitted plans for a three-and-four-storey building in Brighton Road, Surbiton. The build will include either 32 homes, or 28 homes plus two commercial units. But the firm’s agent, Rapleys, said in a report to Kingston Council that creating affordable homes for the site was "not viable".
Kingston's housing strategy says that any development of more than 10 homes should be 50 percent affordable. The Brighton Road site has been closed since September last year after it was sold by then-owners Rontec.
