Hospital plans next step

A half-million pound consultants fee.

Kingston Primary Care Trust chief executive David Smith will ask his board of directors on Monday to invest the money to bring in a team of consultants to manage the redevelopment of Surbiton Hospital and prepare a strong business case to win over NHS planning rules.

Before then the PCT still needs to agree which GPs would move onto the site, what kinds of health services would operate, and whether it should bring back community beds to the hospital.

The mix of health and council services on the 19,000 sq m site could be decided as early as the end of April with GP surgeries, x-rays, physiotherapy and midwifery, a dentist, and even a library or a gym being mooted.
