No new primary school on hospital site under the Conservative education spokesman’s plan. Three year delay inevitable say council.
The Conservative education spokesman describes the new school as a “silly idea”, and says that a school should be built on the King Charles Resource centre (at the junction with Alexandra Drive) instead.
This is despite the council's warnings that
1. there is no funding for his alternative scheme
2. it would add a minimum of three years to providing a permanent solution for the primary schools crisis that has afflicted Surbiton over the last three years
3. The King Charles site does not meet minimum size recommendations for new schools.
4. the new Surbiton Primary School plans are already well progressed, with consultation taking place next week.
