A new street for Surbiton?

A planning application has been submitted for the old Post Office building and Sorting Office. The plan includes a new pedestrianised street from Victoria Road to St. Mary's Road.

The proposal would involve the demolition of the disused Sorting Office which would be replaced with 3 new buildings which would include two 2 storey flats and one 3-9 storey building. The larger building would include ground floor retail unit with 47 flats above and parking for 66 cars in the basement.

The old Post Office building would get an extension added and converted into a restaurant with flats above.

Anyone curious can go along to the Planning Consultation Forum on Monday 8th December at St Andrews and St Marks Junior School, Maple Road at 7:30pm.
