Face painting and fun-loving characters in fancy dress will be among the attractions at the next Maple Road Surbiton Farmers’ Market, courtesy of children’s charity The Rainbow Trust.
Based in Leatherhead, the charity provides practical and emotional support for families with seriously ill children and will be raising funds at the market, which runs from 9am to 1pm on Saturday July 17. Conservation group The Surrey Wildlife Trust will also be among this month’s stallholders.
Maple Road Surbiton Farmers’ Market is a Community Interest Company run by volunteers. Surplus proceeds are returned to the community to support local charities and good causes.
This month, stallholders will also be donating baskets of produce as raffle prizes for Kingston Carers Network, a local charity that provides support for young carers, and for Surbiton High School, where the market recently hosted a lunch for elderly people under the Friendship Hour scheme.
The market is held on the third Saturday of the month in Maple Road and features more than 25 stalls of seasonal produce and speciality foods. This month, there will be new stalls selling fresh produce alongside the regular stallholders. Local bars and restaurants will be open as usual for coffee and lunch.
