Legal threat prompts website rename.
Over the past month or so, 3 Radicals, the business that built, maintains and hosts the Surbiton.com website has been held by a legal injunction preventing us from commenting on recent court proceedings we have been involved in.
However, as of this date we are now permitted to make public certain aspects of a recent legal resolution that has come about.
In February 2010 we received the following letter declaring trademark infringement and violation of anticybersquatting laws. The ensuing court decision has stipulated that we are unable to reveal the identity of the trademark owner and so we have therefore redacted any identifying marks (see attached PDF).
After taking legal advice and considering the court decision it was concluded that the only affordable way forward was to re-brand the Surbiton.com website, and so a new name was sought. After careful consideration it was decided that Serbiton.com was a fitting replacement.
Unfortunately, this is therefore the last legal reference to Surbiton.com and henceforth this site will be referred to as Serbiton.com.

Sorry to hear it...not sure how the new address will help when users are searching for Surbiton in Google....say goodbye to your traffic!
OK - Let's just settle for Aprilfool.com
Some pretty epic fails here:)
Nice April Fool!
This is an April fool. Are you really believing it?
Yes, good to see one of the old spellings of Serbiton coming back into use. Could have used .org.uk instead, I suppose. That bloke Loo Flirpa wants us all to wear terbans now, too, while we referbish our houses.
;D
Nicely done!
More information needed about how you lost this URL...contact me directly please.
i would have gone with north-tolworth-south-kingston.uk.com though it would have cost more to run ads in the surrey comet.
or perhaps the local prenunciation su-beh-on.com, the phonetic similarity would benefit those with learning difficulties... of which there are a few.
Or perhaps we should just change the name of Surbiton itself to match the new domain name. That seems like the most sensible course of action.
I would be interested to hear who the companies were who disputed the URL? It was my understanding that Google owned this URL....please let me know. Thanks
