110-112 Tolworth Broadway
A spate of fly-tipping behind shops on Tolworth Broadway has led to renewed calls by business owners for Kingston Council to clamp down.
Soiled nappies, mouldy mattresses, and bags of rubbish were dumped in Broad Oaks, private land owned by numerous businesses on the Broadway. Shop owners say fly-tipping has been a problem for the last three years and has built up again just weeks after residents carried out a major clean-up.
Radio Jackie, which runs its station from the Broadway, visited Broad Oaks last Thursday and found a disused toilet, soiled mattresses and a fridge. The station said the road has become a “notorious dumping ground” for fly tippers who believe they can get rid of their waste. A sign in the road reads that fly-tipping is punishable by a maximum fine of £2,500.
