Freemasons of Surrey and their partners make major donations to charities.
This occasion is the third such event this year and the Provincial Grand Master – Eric Stuart-Bamford – will give over £55,000, which has been donated by Surrey Freemasons. In the past three years the Freemasons of Surrey have given more than £450,000 to charities in and around Surrey.
Included at this Presentation is £19,000 received from the Freemasons’ Grand Charity in support of Surrey Hospices. The Grand Charity has, since 1984, donated £9.9 million to hospices across England & Wales - all this money has been raised by Freemasons and their families and their aim is to assist hospices in their vital role of helping those affected by terminal or life limiting illness.
Spokesman for the Surrey Provincial Charity Committee, Colin Palmer, said: “Many are unaware that Freemasons are one of the biggest donors to charity in the UK. This is the seventh such Cheque Presentation Event organised by the Surrey for Surrey Scheme which pools together donations from members of different Lodges and Chapters across Surrey to make a significant impact for each charity”.
Charities in attendance on this occasion are: Macmillan Support, The Royal Marsden, Hounds for Heroes, St. Peter’s Neo Natal Unit, Parkinson’s UK, Princess Alice Hospice, Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, Lifelites, The Prince’s Trust, Shooting Star Chase, St Christopher’s Hospice, NASS, The Children’s Trust at Tadworth Court, Surrey Air Ambulance, Sam Beare Hospice, St. Raphael’s and the Woking Hospice.
The presentation is being attended by Masons, their wives and partners, as well as representatives of the charities.
