Developers unveil plans to expand Tolworth Tower to include new shops and 200 homes.
Locals however are already critical with resident Roger Foster saying, "We have enough restaurants and cafés and bars, it is really going backwards, but the finished article is the important thing." Surbiton MP MP Edward Davey says that the plans could put pay to Tesco's ambitions in the area.
In defence, the developers Targetfollow said, "Our in-house development team has been working closely with PRC Architects to prepare an exciting plan which maximises Tolworth Tower's potential as a premier office, retail and residential location."
A formal planning application is expected later this year.

As far as I am aware there is only one bar in Tolworth that hardly counts as enough. Why are people so scared of development does it mean that they will have to work harder and not be so complacent about the business' they supply.
I have lived in Tolworth for 10 years now and would love to see it become more of a bustling enviroment but to do so you need to provide variety to attract people to shop in the area.
