Less of the northerner comments, thank you. I have lived in Surbiton for 2 years now and London for 3 years. I agree that some people from the north dislike London, but please do not tar everybody from north of the Watford gap, as sheltered. I know alot of southerners are afraid to go north of Watford, in case we do not electricity, cars, etc., so talk about sheltered southerners!

I was mugged in March 2008. Surbiton is not a violent place, but it is more violent than when I moved here over 30 years ago. So let me say this:
1. My muggers were all black which is a matter of fact. It doesn't make all black people muggers...
2. No YMCA residents were involved...
3. People must not try to link the attack near the river with the people on Raven's Ait. If you do, go public to the police if you have evidence...

I only have my own experience to say this. This lady will receive full support from the police and victim support.

Thats quite near the river, lets see how many "hatemongers" make a link.

This is going to continue and get worse as the Police and Council wash their hands of the problems.

Lovely, wonderful, beautiful Surbiton ... yeah right!

Oh, come on! How often does this happen in Surbiton?

I have lived here for years, and there has been a slight increase in incidents like this, but it is still very rare compared to most other areas.

Surely the answer would not to go out late at night?

I wouldn't if I lived there!

Comments like this are hilarious. Have you ever actually been to Surbiton? Sounds like a comment from a sheltered northerner who would never come here because it is too close to 'that London'.

The fact is that this sort of thing happens everywhere in the UK now, fortunately Surbiton is still statistically safer than most.

I'm not a sheltered Northener. I lived in Surbiton 20 years ago and hope to return.

Surely logic dictates that you shouldn't go out late at night? It's not really safe to do that anywhere.
